EXEM is an abbreviation of “exemplar” and Bordeaux is a city in the southwest of France. Wines produced in this region are referred to as Bordeaux and mainly are red varietals. My friends at Winesellers, Ltd sent me this amazing bottle and I was absolutely intrigued the fact that it was a white Bordeaux! I couldn’t wait to try it!
This Bordeaux is a blend of 60% Sauvignon and 40% Sémillon. Both varieties are normally dry, sweet wines. This bottle was crisp and not overly sweet. It was perfect for a warm afternoon by the pool and also for these never-ending warm evenings too!
From the winemaker, “The EXEM Bordeaux White has aromas of citrus, grapefruit, gooseberry and lime along with honey, passion fruit and honeysuckle floral notes. Expect flavors of baked apples and pears similar to crème brûlée, orange zest, and figs.” This may sound super fruity, but trust me, it’s not overly sweet. If you like a Sauvignon Blanc, then you are sure to love this!
It retails for under $20 which is always a steal for a good wine in my opinion!
