What We’re Talking About
– Corporate Career
– Getting Laid Off…Twice
– Discovering Your Passion
Falling Into Your Career
Often times we graduate from college and have no idea what we want to do with our lives, so we take the first opportunity that comes along. It’s not our dream job, but we don’t know how to leave it or if there is something more out there for us, so we stay. We dread getting out of bed in the morning to go to work and it becomes a habit, we can’t get rid of. Michelle talks about how she fell into aviation because she could walk to the airport and it simply snowballed from there.
Losing Your Job
Faced with two layoffs just years apart, Michelle decided that she would no longer put herself or her family through that kind of unknown and surprise again. Being made redundant in the workforce brings about all kinds of feelings and emotions on top of being a blow to your ego. Losing the sense of security, Michelle looked for options to become her own boss and also stay at home with her kids.
Finding The Career That’s Right For You
Sometimes you simply stumble upon the career that is meant for you, but more often than not you need to research things you enjoy doing, test them out and then decide on what you love to do…this is about discovering your passion. For Michelle, it was trial and error with event planning, social media management and finally she discovered the world of podcasting and her world changed for the better forever.
